PVDF Coating
Overview
PVDF Coating is one of the main products of KGE Group. We produce high-quality PVDF coatings according to strict production specifications in China. With an annual output of 10,000 tons, KGE has ranked first in China for three consecutive years, accounting for approximately 35% of China’s market share and establishing itself as a leading fluorocarbon coating supplier in China.
The combination of PVDF resin and inorganic pigments provides more than 20 years of outstanding weather resistance, making KGE PVDF Coating a reliable solution for demanding architectural applications.

Fluorocarbon powder coating is made of more than 70% PVDF fluorine resin and matched with acrylic resin and inorganic ceramic pigment with high weather resistance and high adhesion, which are developed by our company and crushed by liquid nitrogen at -180℃ after deep-cooling, so that the performance of the product fully meets or exceeds the standard of AAMA2605.
Introduction
PVDF Coating is a high-performance fluorocarbon coating made from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin, acrylic resin, and inorganic composite pigments. It is designed to provide outstanding weather resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and durable surface protection for exterior applications.
The combination of PVDF resin and inorganic pigments can provide more than 20 years of outstanding weather resistance. With its long-term resistance to UV exposure, weathering, and environmental degradation, PVDF coating is widely used for architectural aluminum products, including aluminum profiles, aluminum doors and windows, and aluminum curtain walls.
Features
More Than 20 Years of Weather Resistance
The combination of PVDF resin and inorganic pigments can provide more than 20 years of outstanding weather resistance, helping the coating maintain its appearance and protective performance under long-term outdoor exposure.
Excellent Durability & Wear Resistance
The strong carbon-fluorine bond structure provides a stable and durable coating film with excellent resistance to wear and environmental degradation. PVDF fluoropolymer coatings are widely recognized for their long-term resistance to fading, chalking, and weathering in architectural applications.
Strong Chemical Resistance
The low surface energy and stable chemical properties of fluorocarbon coatings contribute to strong resistance to chemicals and atmospheric pollutants, making them suitable for demanding exterior environments.
Excellent Corrosion Protection
The coating provides very low water and corrosive-media permeability, helping protect metal substrates against moisture and environmental exposure. Proper substrate preparation and coating-system design remain essential for achieving reliable corrosion protection.
Strong Adhesion
PVDF coating is cured through a heat-driven chemical reaction to form a durable coating film with good adhesion to properly prepared substrates.
Flexible Color & Finish Options
PVDF coating can meet a wide range of architectural color requirements, providing different colors, gloss levels, and finishes for architectural metal applications. Industry PVDF systems are available in extensive solid, metallic, mica, and other decorative finishes.
Easy Maintenance
The low-adhesion surface characteristics of the fluorocarbon coating film help reduce the attachment of contaminants, making the coated surface easier to maintain and clean. Proper repair systems can also be used for localized maintenance when required.
Key Application
PVDF Coating For Aluminium
Delivering maximum weather resistance, color stability, and long-term protection for aluminum used in demanding outdoor and architectural environments.
long-term outdoor durability
superior UV resistance
minimal color fade over time
We do not recommend using standard paint outdoors.
Outdoor aluminum components are constantly exposed to sunlight, humidity, temperature fluctuations, and airborne pollutants.
Conventional coatings often lead to:color fading and chalking, surface degradation , costly repainting and replacement.
For long-life aluminum projects, coating failure is not just an aesthetic issue—it is a maintenance and liability risk.
Q&A
What is the typical structure of a PVDF coating system?
Architectural PVDF coating systems can consist of multiple layers, commonly including a primer and a PVDF-based topcoat. The exact coating structure depends on the product specification, substrate, and project requirements. Industry architectural systems commonly use two- or three-coat configurations.
How should the aluminum substrate be prepared before PVDF coating?
The aluminum substrate should be properly cleaned and pretreated before coating to remove contaminants and establish a suitable surface for adhesion and corrosion protection. The exact pretreatment process should follow the coating system and project specification.
Can PVDF coating be used on existing architectural surfaces for repair?
Yes. Specialized fluoropolymer repair coatings are available for restoring or touching up properly prepared existing architectural metal surfaces. The repair system should be selected according to the original coating and substrate condition.
What should be considered when selecting a PVDF coating system?
The substrate, project location, environmental exposure, required durability, color and gloss requirements, application method, and coating-system specification should all be considered before selecting the appropriate PVDF coating.
What standards are commonly associated with architectural PVDF coatings?
FGIA/AAMA 2605 is a major performance specification for high-performance architectural coatings on aluminum and other building products. It evaluates properties including color retention, chalk resistance, gloss retention, corrosion resistance, and resistance to environmental exposure.
