Introduction
Polyester Epoxy Powder, also known as Epoxy-Polyester Hybrid Powder Coating, is a thermosetting powder coating that combines epoxy resin and polyester resin in a single coating system. This hybrid formulation balances the protective properties of epoxy with the surface appearance and application characteristics of polyester.
It provides excellent mechanical strength, adhesion, and chemical resistance. In addition, the polyester component improves resistance to over-bake yellowing and enhances color stability during thermal curing. As a result, hybrid powder coatings are ideal for indoor metal surfaces, electrical appliances, and machinery parts where both durability and aesthetic appearance are required.
However, epoxy-polyester hybrid powder coatings are primarily intended for non-UV-exposed environments, as their epoxy content can cause chalking and fading under prolonged UV exposure. Depending on the formulation, these coatings typically cure at 140°C–220°C, with bake times of approximately 5–30 minutes.
